Seattle Fun with Family! April 4th, 2009

On Sat April 4th 2009 we joined the Matthews Family and the Wilks for a day of Family fun in Seattle to celebrate Megan and Josh Wilk’s birthdays! The sunshine was warm and beautiful! It made the day very enjoyable to be outside. First we went to the Mall at Westlake Center and walked around, and then went to Pike’s place. The kids had a lot of fun looking at all the flashy goods and the flying fish. We then took the Monorail over to the Space Needle and walked around there snapping lots of pictures of the family. What a special day with sisters, and brothers and sisters in law (me) and of course all the COUSINS! We finished off our day at the Old Spaghetti Factory with good food, birthday presents and lots of silliness!

CATS! April 17th 2009

My dad scored us tickets to see the play CATS at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle on April 17th 2009!

Mom and Dad met us in Seattle for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory before the play. That yummy place is always a great way to start out a wonderful night in Seattle. My cousin (on my Dad's side) CARA COOLEY (played Bombalurina). Cara had the lead role in this broadway play and we were very proud of her. I remember as a child twirling with her while visiting Great Grandma Cooley in her nursing home and putting on "shows" for the visiting families. She was always a great dancer and singer. This just proves how amazing she is. It was wonderful. We had a fantastic time. Cara is the first gal on the left on the billboard.

On our way to the play we heard familiar voices. Cousin Curtiss and his beautiful wife Grace was behind us. It was a neat surprise to bump into and walk in with additional family I have not seen in years! A NOTE ON THE PLAY-
Most of the poems comprising Old Possum’s Book Of Practical Cats (1939) have been set to music complete and in their originally published form; a few have been subject to a minor revision of tense or pronoun, and eight lines have been added to “The Song of the Jellicles.”
However, some of our lyrics, notably the story of “Grizabella,” were discovered among the unpublished writings of Eliot.

The prologue is based on ideas and incorporates lines from another unpublished poem, entitled
“Pollicle Dogs and Jellicle Cats.”


“Memory” includes lines from and is suggested by “Rhapsody on a Windy Night” and other poems of the Prufrock period. All other words in the show are taken from The Collected Poems.

The Birthday Boy and his Night Out.

Oh my goodness how fun it is to get the kiddos out for their birthdays! SO FUN!! Our tradition for them is to take them and only them out for their birthdays for some one on one Uncle Miles and Aunt Jenny treatment! They love it and we love it too! They get dinner out of their choosing and also get to go shopping wherever they want for their birthday gift also of their choosing. My Aunt Sharon and Uncle David used to do this for my brothers and I growing up. We had a blast and always felt so special getting to go out with just them. It is really funny because the kiddos are very vocal…all of them, as if they are liberated from their siblings for a short while and all the attention is on them. They often get quite hyper. Even Alex! The fact that Miles and I do not have kids of out own makes this possible and we claim them as ours and hit the town!

This year Alex decided that McDonalds was going to be his dinner place of choice so we picked him up and off we went. We also went to Target and looked for the perfect gfit. He picked out Gater Golf. It was this huge plastic head of an alligator that comes with balls and mini putters and you put the golf balls into the gater’s mouth. It was very cute. The moment Alex saw its huge plastic head he said “Dis is da one…dis is it! I yove dis one! I Yove it”. Alex was in fine form the entire evening. We passed the sunglasses on our way to the check out and Alex wanted to try on silly ones…lots of different ones! So we all did and took pictures! We must have been such a site. But we had a lot of fun~

Mom and Dad here Meeting Holdyn for the first time.

On the weekend of March 14th Mom and Dad and Grandma too came up to meet Holdyn for the frist time. He is the first grandchild -although that fact has been difficult for me- it was a very special time for all of us. I will just post the slew of pictures.
